Catherine K. Buchanan, M.D.

I am a double board-certified geriatrician and internist with 20 years of experience caring for older adults.

Raised in Berkeley, I graduated from Berkeley High School before earning a degree in biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. While in college, I was inspired to pursue medicine after volunteering at a community family planning clinic. I completed my medical degree and residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Wake Forest Medical Center in North Carolina. It was there that I discovered my calling in geriatrics, captivated by the complexity of problems and the holistic approach to treating older adults. I completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation of Wake Forest Medical Center before returning to the East Bay in 2005 and working in various private practice settings focused on the care of older adults.
